22nd April is Earth Day, the Volunteers at Bubbles resort decided to organized some meaningful activities. One of them is drupella shell collection.

These nasty little purple shells feed on coral, and leaving the branching coral rot from the bottom and die. So the volunteers at Bubbles decided to organized a drupella collection day on this special day.

And they all get geared up...

and along with Bubbles dive team, they plunge into the sea at the house reef, with a pillow case between each buddy teams (old pillow case is more environmental friendly then trash bags or net bags)...

the angles of the reef...

Not letting any of those purple devil escape...

Feeling good for doing something special for the earth!

After a few jellyfish casualties, the drupella shell collection team call it quits. With pillow cases full of shell, they went back to the dive centre.

The counting of the collection...

The result is we collected 1010 of these nasty coral eater in a day!
The volunteers have decided to be out there collecting them everyday when they are out snorkelling!
The healthier reef say "Thank You!"
Happy Earth Day everyone! Please care of the earth not just this 1 day! Do something nice to the environment everyday!
Happy Bubbles from everyone at Bubbles!!
With a blink of eyes the monsoon break is over. It felt only like a week! The Bubbles team is back on the island to prepare for another season! The damage for this monsoon is not too bad compare to last year. Repair work was minimal. What change is the beach, we have more beach this year!

This monsoon the wave brought in a lot of sand, and hence we have a larger beach this year!
And great news to our petite divers! The slope in front of the dive centre is leveled out by the wave, there is only one tiny step needed to get back to the dive centre!

And as for my office view...take today (5th March 2007)

is still a view to die for! Hehehe...
See you soon!!
This is my favourite shot amount all the shots by Ronnie, this anemone was found swimming around at Hin Deang while everybody were running after a manta, we decided to stop for this rare scene! Have never seen an anemone swim like that before! Love the whole picture composition of the shot!

Someone from Astro AEC called us wanting to film an episode of their program on our beach. They are producing a reality show where the host and her guest will go to different places to experience odd jobs. Something like "Simple Life". And they wish to film an episode on pre monsoon closing of a resort and dive centre.
They arrived on 14th October, 1 day before we officially closed the resort and started "helping" us.
The film crew told us when they arrivethat they are going toproduce 2 episodes instead of 1. In which the first episode will focus on cleaning up the Dive Centre and Resort, and the second episod will be about environmental issues.
All 3 of us got to be on TV, start with Ronnie welcoming them upon arrival, he assigned them their first task. To wash the bottom of the boat.

Eric get to show them how to wash BCDs. And I got one whole Episode all to myself!!! HAHA!
Don't forget to tune it to Astro AEC (CH19) on the 9th December (Epi 1), and 16th December (Epi 2) to see all of us in action!

26th August 3am, some little fellows knock at our room door, these little lost hatchlings got lost and wonder around the dive centre. Found 12 of them, their siblings are no where to be found, think they made it to the ocean.

This little curious one peering into Ronnie's camera as if it is saying, hmmm...you look delicious!

We took the little ones out to the open sea and release them so they are not be eaten by the other bigger fish lurking in the shallow reef!

Baby turtles has the instinct to swim none stop for 72 hours since they hatch so they can swim for their life away from the dangerous reef, and out to the open sea where there is less predators. Their surviving rate is almost 1 in a 1000! So next time you see an adult turtle, please respect them, they are the greatest survivor one can ever imagine! If you ever visit us at Perhentian, speak to us and we can tell you all the amazing stories about the great warrior! Please help us safe the turtles!
See you little ones, hope to see you on our beach 20 years later! Bon Voyage!
