There are more and more critters being discover here at Perhentians. The Bubbles' crew been mucking about and found a new dive site which we name it "Turf Club". The "Turf Club" features superstar Seahorse!

We have also found mimic octopus, zebra crab, and blue ring octopus at Turf Club too!

Special species found at Turf Club:

The Seahorse!!!!!

and

Bornella sp.

(This photo of Ronnie is also featured on Naville Coleman's latest Nudibranchs Encyclopedia)

Another muck diving site we found since last year November is Mucket. Mucket has got the rarest nudibrunch one can find around Perhentians.

Some of the nudis found at Mucket are:

Dendrodoris carbunculosa

Elysia sp.

This is an undescribed species.

(This is also featured on Naville Coleman's Nudibrunchs Encyclopedia.)

Melibe pilosa species group

Just a few of the usual suspect of Mucket.

All photos are by Ronnie Ng.

Bubbles was scheduled to open for her first group of divers on the 28th of February 2008, but the customers were greeted at Kuala Besut by rough sea and strong wind. After 1 day of hanging about at Kuala Besut, the divers were finally boarded onto larger slow boat to the island. The open of the season was really rough, and with limited dive sites and visibility, the rough weather continues for over 2 weeks. And finally the sea is back to the normal conditions, and blue sky peeks out through the cloud, the volunteers got some sun onto them too.

Finally, the diving season has really begins, and with great visibility to start with!

So come on out my fellows friends, see you underwater!

Season 2008

After a 4 months of holiday, Bubbles' team are all ready to a new season!

We will be welcoming our first group of guest on the 28th of February 2008.

The team is ready to move back in to island on the 20th to clean up the place, and we still have no idea what damage had monsoon done to the premise this year? Every year it has been like this, always a surprise! During the monsoon, the resort and dive centre is deserted and we were informed that it has been broken into twice already!

Update on this year facility, Bubbles will be installing hot water shower in all the air conditioned rooms, so no more cold shower after the night dive!
We have also purchase nice beds and solid base to provide more quality sleep after a hard day “work” basking in the sun, and diving with the turtles!

The dive resort will provide free information to any guest who is interested in our on going projects like: Know the Turtles; Reef Guardians; with the help of our enthusiastic volunteers, and staffs.

All in all we are looking forward to another lovely season, and we hope to see you on our lovely beach soon!

For further information contact info@bubblesdc.com or visit us at www.bubblesdc.com

Happy Bubbles from all at Bubbles Dive Resort!

Baby Turtles 2007!!!!!!

At hour 2300, 12th August 2007, the August volunteers are doing their usual round on the beach to look out for turtle landing, they stumble upon some little movement on the beach, and they realized that the movement were little turtle hatchlings! So everyone on the resort turn off all lights and comb the beach for signs of other hatchlings. Later they found 15 little ones fell into a hole that were made by sand castle builder during the day, all resort guest, staff, and volunteers rescue the babies by digging a channel for them to move to the sea. Dim torchlight with red filters were used to guide/lure the babies towards the sea.

There were no moon last night, tide was rather low, the babies all swim with high speed as soon as they hit the water. The babies were all left to complete the beach imprinting walk by themselves, some volunteers were having tug-a-war with crabs which were grabbing the babies along the way. Total known babies that made it to the sea were 16. The others might found its way to the sea before we found them. So good luck our babies!

Thanks again to the ex-volunteers for job well done in keeping the nest safe! Congratulation on the babies! Sorry that we can't find which nest it hatched from, it was impossible to trace! No picture were taken, it was a very dark night!

Write to me when you read this and wanted more detail! info@bubblesdc.com

Well done! The volunteers decided to put these little devil to good use, and with the help of Ronnie they cast the drupellas into a star shape concrete block, and will be taken to PIBAR (our own artificial/ reef rehabilitation project) and let coral polyps grow on it. Will keep you update on the growth of life around this block. Special thanks to all July Volunteers! We all missed you at Bubbles!
